Meet Sydney Jones, the attorney at the center of my legal thriller series.

The Writing Life: A newsletter from Carolyn M. Bowen, Author

Dear Readers,

Some stories begin with a question: What would you do if the pursuit of justice became personal? That question is at the heart of my Sydney Jones Legal Thriller series. Sydney’s world is shaped by the law, but legal cases are never just about rules and arguments. They’re also about people, choices, consequences—and the moments when doing what is right may come at a cost.

This month, I’m turning the spotlight on Sydney and the series that follows her journey.

Start with Primed for Revenge

The first book in the series, Primed for Revenge, is the place to meet Sydney Jones and step into her world. It begins with a story of legal suspense and sets the stage for the books that follow.

I enjoy writing legal thrillers because they let me explore the conflict between what can be proven and what people believe is true. A courtroom may be where a case is argued, but the stakes often reach far beyond it. And when justice feels personal, every decision carries added weight.

Sydney’s story continues

In Book 2, Chance, Sydney’s journey continues. Then, in Book 3, One, readers can follow her further as the series unfolds.

Each book is part of Sydney’s larger story, so if you’re new to the series, I recommend beginning with Primed for Revenge and reading in order. And if you’ve already met Sydney, thank you for continuing the journey with her.

What interests you most in a legal thriller: the courtroom strategy, the mystery, the characters’ difficult choices, or the question of what justice really means? I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for being part of The Writing Life and for making room on your reading list for my books. I hope you’ll join Sydney Jones as she faces the challenges ahead.

Warmly,

Carolyn M. Bowen
